Capturing Spirit & Nature
Caring deeply about the natural world, I endeavour to capture the spirit and essence of wildlife and landscapes by using spontaneous and energetic brush strokes to convey their beauty and magnificence.
Using a variety of different techniques I have concentrated on mastering Chinese Brush painting as a way of expressing the spirit behind the subject. This technique lends itself to painting delicate feathers and petals, but I like to experiment and push boundaries, so this quite often goes in different directions and I include other media in my work.
Having been trained as an Illustrator and graphic designer, I worked for BBC South West as regional designer for many years, before retraining as a teacher with the responsibility for Art & Design at a local primary school.
Now I have time to really concentrate on developing my own voice through art and finding ways to interpret the natural world, which means so much to me.
