About Artansa
Artansa is a volunteer led group of up to 25 independent artists working around the Cornish and Devon border.
Artansa Ltd is a Company Limited by Guarantee (registered in England & Wales). We operate as an artist-led collective, supporting independent creatives in West Devon and the Tamar Valley.
We are not a charity or CIC. All income is used to support our members’ visibility and creative development through events, exhibitions, and shared resources. Any profits are re-invested to improve what we do.
Artansa is a volunteer led group of up to 25 independent artists working near the Cornish and Devon border. We support each other in sharing and exhibiting our work — not to grow an organisation, but to grow as individuals, together.
Who We Are
We are painters, photographers, sculptors, textile artists, print makers, book artists, jewellers, and makers of things that don’t quite fit a label. We all have our own practice, voice, and rhythm.
Some of us work full time in the arts. Others carve out time when life allows. What unites us is a commitment to quality, to curiosity, and to connection.
What We Do
We support each other in sharing and exhibiting our work. The aim isn’t to grow an organisation, but to grow as individuals, together.
Artansa organises cost-effective exhibitions and events using our Art at brand. Event may be open or curated. Events are always focused on accessibility and visibility for our members.
We also provide an online platform to showcase our work, and resources that help us navigate the professional side of art: pricing, gallery approaches, promotion, and peer support.
Our artists work across painting, photography, print making, sculpture, textile art, jewellery, books, installations, and not forgetting other forms that don’t always fit into neat boxes.
How We Work
Participation is flexible and voluntary. Members contribute in the ways that enable them — whether that’s exhibiting, mentoring, helping behind the scenes, or simply being part of the conversation.
This flexibility makes space for the many realities artists live with — whether personal, practical, or simply part of how life unfolds. No one is expected to keep up; instead, we keep pace together, in the ways we can, as a group.
What We Believe
We believe in the value of independent art — not as a product, but as a practice.
We believe in generosity, kindness, respect and humour, and the idea that creativity flourishes in community.
Artansa is not a brand or a business. We’re a network of artists helping each other be seen, heard, and supported — on our own terms.
We’re here to support artists to do their best work. To create in their own way with freedom and without judgment.
Apply to Join?
We welcome new artists, when space allows. We’re capped at around 25 people to keep things manageable and meaningful.
There’s no formal audition process — just a conversation and a look at your work. If you’re actively making art and you’re interested in being part of something warm, simple, and shared, we’d love to hear from you.
If you are thinking of joining, have a good look around our website, then when you are ready, complete the form below.
We need all questions answered so we are able to contact you, and to confirm that you are an artist in our catchment area. We will email you with the next steps shortly after reviewing your information.
