Kevin Tharme is an abstract and conceptual artist based in the Tamar Valley, on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon. Working primarily with oil, texture, poetry and digital processes, his practice begins with questions rather than answers.

His work explores responsibility, consequence, care, prejudice, identity, mental health, environmental change and the uneasy spaces where silence, denial and inaction take hold. The paintings are layered, physical and often ambiguous; the poems and words sit alongside them as companions rather than explanations. Together, they create space for reflection, discomfort, recognition and conversation.

Kevin’s background in IT and design, alongside many years volunteering in mental health, environmental and social settings, continues to shape how he sees the world: with curiosity, empathy, scepticism and a strong awareness of what is too easily ignored.

He does not make work to offer solutions or manifestos. He makes work that asks people to pause, look a little longer, think a little deeper, and consider their own place in what happens next.
