Artist Profile Setup Guide

Welcome to the Artansa Website!

One of the great features now is that you can update your own artist profile — including your images, background, contact details, social links and biography – this function is found on the My Artansa menu, only available when you are logged in .

To help you get the best results (for yourself, and for everyone visiting the site), we’ve put together a few straightforward guidelines to follow.

We strongly recommend taking a little time to plan your profile carefully before you start uploading.

Before You Begin

Your profile is a public part of the Artansa site — it represents you and also contributes to the overall feel of our community.

Please take a few minutes to:

  • Think about the information you want to share — your bio, your links, your images.

  • Prepare everything in advance — it will make the uploading and editing process much quicker and easier.

  • Double check your content — spelling, image sizes, file names and link addresses — before you publish.

If you need any help at all, just get in touch — we’re happy to assist!

Key Points to Remember

Profile Photo (Headshot)

  • Your profile photo should be square (e.g., 800px × 800px).

  • It should clearly show your face — a welcoming and professional introduction. This one image has to be emailed and we set it up, you cannot add this one yourself. Why? I hear you ask. Simply it is used in more than one place on the site, it has to be checked for consistency with all profile photos, so the menus/displays don’t go awry.

Gallery Images

  • You can upload multiple images for your gallery.

  • Different sizes are fine, but try to keep an overall sense of balance.

  • Use JPG or JPEG format — these load faster and display well online.

  • Name your files sensibly, and please include your name at the beginning or end (e.g., artistname_title.jpg). This helps keep the shared media library organised.

  • Keep file sizes reasonable — under 2MB per image is a good guide.

  • Resolution: 72dpi is fine for web use. Higher resolutions (like 144dpi or 300dpi) aren’t needed here — they just slow down loading without improving screen quality.

  • When loading new images, you may not see them immediately, they will have loaded! Simply click on the upload tab, then click on media tab again and they will appear.
  • After loading new images, you still need to add them to the gallery, select the images you want to add on the media tab, check the title and description say what you want, then click on select. following that, click on save towards the top right of the page.

Biography and Contact Info

  • Ideally write your biography in the first person (“I am an artist based.  Third person (“John Smith is an artist…”) is also acceptable. However, please stay consistent throughout.

  • Keep it clear, friendly, and professional.

  • Double check that your links (e.g., website, Instagram) are correct and working.

A Few Final Tips

  • Less is more — a small, well-chosen selection of images and information always looks stronger than uploading everything.
  • Think of your profile as an introduction — a signpost to your full website or portfolio, not a complete copy of it.

  • Quality over quantity — a few thoughtful choices make the best impression.

  • Remember: your profile is part of the wider Artansa gallery — what you upload contributes to the whole.

  • Remember to submit and save your changes after making them.
  • The profile status, Draft and Published. If you select draft, as you haven’t finished, your profile will be removed from the menu. Your profile is only visible when it is published.
