Be Email Safe
Spotting Suspicious Messages – A Quick Guide for Artists
Not every message you receive will be genuine. Some may be spam, phishing, or irrelevant. Here are some simple ways to help stay safe:
1. Trust your instincts
If a message feels odd, rushed, or too good to be true, it probably is.
2. Check the sender’s email address
Look out for strange or messy addresses, like ones full of numbers or unusual domains (e.g.
info@987buythisnow.ru).Be cautious with free email accounts (like Gmail, Yahoo, etc.). They’re not always fake, but they’re more commonly used for spam.
3. Does the message make sense?
Are they asking something they could easily read on your Artansa profile?
Do they refer to your actual work, or is it vague and general?
If it seems like a copy-paste message or doesn’t mention you specifically, it may not be real.
4. Watch for warning signs
Poor spelling or grammar
Vague compliments or strange formality
No clear reason for contacting you
Requests that feel odd or unrelated to your work
Pressure to respond quickly
5. Don’t click links or download files
Unless you are sure the message is genuine, avoid clicking any links or opening attachments.
6. If in doubt, ignore it
You don’t need to reply to every message – you are not being rude! If something doesn’t feel right, it’s okay to delete or ignore it.
You can also ask Artansa for advice if you’re unsure.
